Southern California Counseling Center (SCCC) was founded in 1966. They have over 180 volunteer counselors, supervisors and board members and a small paid staff. SCCC offers a variety of affordable individual and group counseling to a diverse clientele.

Because SCCC accepts no government funding or insurance payments, anyone can qualify for SCCC services, and there is no restriction on how long clients can participate. SCCC is not required to give clients a diagnosis in order to work with them, and they are able to work from a collaborative, strength-based model that acknowledges the broader context of the challenges a client may be facing. In the absence of government and insurance funding, SCCC relies on client fees, counselor fees, private grants and donations.
